MAy I ask for a little bit of info in terms of computer specs?

and also does it only happen when the computer is under a work load or will it happen if your just idling? (just some questions off the top of my head)

you can always try looking in the event viewer to see if an error happened just before the crash.
Here's how to find it on XP start>controll panel>admin tools>event viewer>system

On vista you can search for it by typing "event viewer" in the search box on the start menu and then click event viewer.

On windows 7 I'm sure you can search for it the same way as you do in vista, hope this helps finding out what causes the crashes.

Try turning off automatic restart. This can be done by going to Control panel>System>Advanced system settings>startup and recovery settings> untick automatic retsart.

Probably after you do this and your pc errors you'll get a BSOD (blue screen of death) this can be a hell of a lot more helpful for someone trying to diagnose a problem via the internet if you note down the error code and then post somewhere asking for help, including said code.
